After closing Megaupload, other services restrict their activities

After entering the domain name servers and the closure of the site Megaupload direct download, many of its competitors have introduced restrictions to guard against similar procedures. Uploaded.to has blocked access to the service of the United States. U.S. users attempting to connect to the site are now s’ display a page announcing that the service is blocked. However, it remains accessible from the outside world.

Filesonic has disabled based file shares. Users can not download files posted by other users, but only the documents they themselves have uploaded to the servers of the company.

Fileserve announced that he had turned off its program of “rewards” that rewarding the user to load files on the popular platform. A similar program existed in Megaupload, and is one of the principal axes of the complaint against him on charges of incitement to piracy.

VideoBB and Videoz have removed many of the files it hosts. These two services, related to Fileserve, seem no longer operate normally .

Mediafire and Rapidshare , two of the main competitors Megaupload, however say they do not intend to change the operation of their services, and they have nothing to fear of justice. The two companies explained that they comply with the law on intellectual property, and have not “built a system that encourages illegal downloading” , in the words of CEO Mediafire.
