Patent Wars: British Telecom Filed a Complaint Against Google


Since the spring, many manufacturers of mobile devices such as Apple and Samsung, are waging a legal battle, accusing each other of patent infringement. But this time, the operator British Telecom , which accuses the operating system Google Android for copyright infringement, reports the specialist site Foss Patents , Sunday, Dec. 18.

The operator has filed a complaint Thursday, December 15 in a court of Delaware, USA. British Telecom procedure against Google focuses on six patents, which cover a number of services the group’s flagship search engine: Market Applications Android Market , the group’s music service, its mapping system Google Maps and even the social network + Google. “If the complaint is successful, or Google Android devices providers may have to pay duties on each unit sold ” , says the Guardian.

With this new procedure, “Google is now facing another large company that believes its rights are violated” , analyzes Florian Mueller , the Foss Patents . British Telecom “probably wants to continue to do business with manufacturers of mobile and therefore decided to attack Google directly ” , he analyzes.
