Zynga Sign an Agreement with the Brazilian Vostu
The publisher of “social games” Zynga and its Brazilian competitor Vostu bury the hatchet. After having begun legal proceedings, both groups announced, Tuesday, December 6, an amicable agreement. The leader of the games on social networks, American Zynga, had filed a complaint in June in California and Brazil, alleging violations of copyright.
Zynga seen especially in games that are Vostu Mini Farm , Coffee Mania and Mega City unauthorized copies of its flagship titles such as Farmville , World Café or Cityville . According to the complaint document, obtained by Techcrunch , Vostu was accused of having taken over not only the ideas of Zynga, but also the gameplay and business model of selling virtual goods.
CHANGES IN FOUR TITLES
As announced in Inside Social Games , reproducing a statement the two companies, “Vostu has paid money to Zynga, and made changes on four of its games” . The amount of the agreement has not been revealed.
This is not the first time that Zynga, which the IPO is imminent, engages in litigation. In early 2011, the game publisher had also threatened to take legal action to protect the suffix city, present in several of its hit titles. From 2009, Zynga, which publishes Mafia Wars , was also charged with violation of copyright by the creators of the game Mob Wars.
